THE GRID ACADEMY · IN DEVELOPMENT
Understanding,
put into practice.
A lesson gives you an idea. An exercise makes it yours.
A new problem shows what you can do.
Move the slider. Follow the result.
One result.
Connected to its assumptions.
A small illustration of a big idea. This preview runs in your browser; it is not a live Grid lab or an assessment.
THE WAY WE LEARN
Keep the understanding.
Build the ability.
One connected journey, grounded in the books. The academy is being designed around four essential moments.
Read
A focused explanation linked to the book, with the context that makes it useful.
Practice
A worked example, followed by a change that asks you to think.
Get feedback
Understand what happened, address the gap, and try again.
Demonstrate
Apply the idea to a new situation and explain your judgment.
Your first model.
A real beginning.
Six focused lessons. One useful pricing model. A practical way to start building with Grid.
- No book purchase required
- Practice and retries included
- Earn the credential through assessment
Target workload: approximately 4–6 hours, to be validated in the pilot. Enrollment is not yet open.

Recognize inputs, calculations, names, and dependencies. Predict what changes before you change it.
Explain how a result depends on its assumptions.Mount Up · Chapters 1–202Build a useful calculation
Complete a small pricing model with clear inputs and meaningful results.
Produce correct results when the inputs change.Mount Up · Chapters 3–403Control changes
Make a valid change and demonstrate a refused one. Keep the model’s logic intact.
Distinguish a permitted input change from a change to the formula.Mount Up · Chapters 2 and 1104Present the result
Connect a simple view to the same model, so the result stays connected to its source.
Show the model’s current result in a useful surface.Mount Up · Chapter 305Explain what changed
Inspect the dependencies and identify which assumption moved the result.
Support an explanation with evidence from the model.Mount Up · Chapters 3 and 1506Hand off responsibly
Preserve your work, document its assumptions, and make the remaining human decision clear.
Deliver work that a colleague can understand and use appropriately.Mount Up · Chapters 3 and 24YOUR LEARNING, TAKEN FURTHER
Start with the essentials.
Find your field.
Move from a first model to independent application work, then to deeper specializations and original contributions.
Foundations
Build a useful first model. Change an input, explain a result, and know its limits.
Practitioner
Turn your understanding into a complete business application that holds up under change.
Advanced Specialist
Choose a field. Learn deeper methods. Defend the decisions behind your approach.
Tall In The Saddle
Connect deep work across a named range, then stand behind your judgment when the problem changes.
Operations Decision Systems
Eight proposed specializations across forecasting, planning, flow, control, disruption, and recovery—each grounded in the book series and designed to stand on its own.
AN EXPERIENCE THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Learn at your pace.
Grow with support.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
A few clear answers.
Can I enroll now?
Not yet. This site introduces the books and learning program while they are being prepared. The interactive preview is available now; full lessons, labs, and assessed credentials will follow a qualified pilot.
Will Foundations really be free?
That is the plan: required lessons, practice, assessment, retries, and the Foundations credential will be free. Buying the book will be optional. Hosted practice may have published usage limits, with a workable free route to completion.
Do I need to be a developer?
Foundations is being designed for people comfortable thinking with spreadsheets and business calculations. Advanced specializations will have their own mathematical, technical, or domain prerequisites.
What is a Pro range?
A range is a broad professional domain with multiple named specializations. Operations Decision Systems is the first proposed range: a learner could earn an Advanced Specialist credential in one field, then pursue broader evidence toward Tall In The Saddle across the range. Practitioner-level competence or equivalent evidence would be expected before advanced assessment.
Is this an accredited program?
No external accreditation or academic credit is currently claimed. The initial awards are planned as Grid-issued assessed certificates for specific demonstrated outcomes.
